We were a tight group of friends whilst at university. We spent a lot of time together, most of us also living with each other for many of the years we were in Bath. Apart from Richie, we were all away from home. We were like a close-knit family and apart from Henry and Sam (who were a couple of years older), there were no adults around but for Richie's parents. They became and remained our surrogate parents; they paid an interest in us, gave us advice, we looked up to them and we loved them. They'll be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
Extract from a poem by Henry Scott Holland
